The offices are housed in a complex close to the town centre of Haltwhistle and right next to Haltwhistle railway station. The closest main road is the A69.
Tourism dominates the local economy as the area surrounding the town is outstandingly beautiful. Haltwhistle is on the Newcastle and Carlisle Line (also called the Tyne Valley Line).
The line links Newcastle upon Tyne with Carlisle. Services are operated by First ScotRail and Northern Rail and the station is on the south side of the village.
Also linking Carlisle to Newcastle on Tyne is the A69 trunk road which bypasses the town and provides excellent access to the road network.
